Advice for Scooter/Moped Drivers

Kurtz Blum, PLLC | Raleigh Criminal LawyersScooters and mopeds have become increasingly popular in North Carolina, thanks to rising gas prices. They are particularly useful in urban settings. Unfortunately, being the tamer siblings of motorcycles doesn’t mean they’re not prone to accidents. If you have been injured while riding your scooter/moped, you need to contact a reliable injury attorney immediately.

Scooter/moped driving rights

A scooter/moped rider in NC must be at least 16 years of age. He/she must also be wearing a helmet when operating the vehicle. A driver’s license isn’t a requirement for scooter/moped drivers, although owners are required to register their vehicles and obtain a license plate from the NC Department of Motor Vehicles.

Scooter/moped accidents

Scooter/moped riders have far lesser protection than car drivers, so a collision with any four-wheeled vehicle would certainly damage scooters/mopeds and possibly injure the riders. If you have been injured while riding your scooter or moped, and another driver was at fault, you may be entitled to compensation for medical expenses, lost wages, future expenses, emotional distress, physical pain and suffering, and more.

Financial problems, among other things, could mount in the face of an injury, so you need to see that you are properly compensated. Contact an experienced personal injury attorney to have your case evaluated.
